Philharmonic Pub

The Beatles often visited The Philharmonic for a drink, or two. The Philharmonic Hall across the road was the scene of Liverpool's first major rock 'n' roll concert when Buddy Holly played in 1958; it's assumed that one of his biggest fans attended the gig: the man who now owns Buddy Holly's songs - Paul McCartney. Beatlemania hit the Philharmonic Hall in 1963 when George Harrison was a panellist at a battle of the bands contest; a fellow panellist was Decca Records A&R chief Dick Rowe - who'd rejected The Beatles a few years earlier - and to whom George recommended a London R&B group, the Rolling Stones. The Philharmonic is a famous Liverpool pub, which was built at the turn of the 20 th Century. It is a wonderfully ornate listed building, and each room has its own intricate features. Sit back and enjoy the fabulous architecture with a pint of one of the excellent ales or proper lagers The toilets are often remarked upon as being an outstanding feature
